FlowHeater Designer Review at a Glance
FlowHeater Designer lets you transport and perform conversions on data quickly and easily. With FlowHeater, you’ll be able to perform conversions, amendments, transformations, manipulations, or add external dynamic or static data in a straightforward and intuitive manner. Imagine copying Oracle database tables directly into an MS SQL Server database, without manual intervention!
With FlowHeater Designer, you can create a new Definition set as well as modify and execute existing Definition sets. The Definition files are pure XML, but instead of the file extension .xml FlowHeater uses .fhd as an acronym of Flow Heater Definition. Provided you have sufficient space on your monitor screen and enough memory available, there is no practical limit to how complex transformation definitions can grow to. You can also subdivide the working area into any number of layers, that way you retain an overview of even the most complex Definition sets.

Key Features of FlowHeater Designer:
- Text files – for reading and writing text files (CSV, TXT, ASCII, FlatFile, etc). Of course differing codepages and locales are handled automatically
- MS Access – used for importing and exporting data directly into and out of Microsoft Access MDB, MDE, ACCDB, ACCDE databases. All versions of Access 97 thru Access 2016 are supported
- MS Excel – used for the import/export of spreadsheet data directly into/out of Microsoft Excel (XLS, XLSX) files. The Adapter supports all versions of Excel in Office 97 thru Office 2016
- MySQL – this makes it possible to import, export and update data directly in MySQL Server databases. The Adapter supports MySQL Server 3.x and above
- MS SQL Server – used to import, export and update data directly in MS SQL Server databases / tables. All versions of SQL Server 7.0 thru SQL Server 2017 are supported
- XML files – for the native import / export of “flat” XML files. The XML Adapter is presently in the beta testing phase and will likely undergo improvements
- Oracle Databases – used for the direct import, export and update of Oracle databases. The Adapter can cope with database versions from Oracle 8 thru Oracle 12c
- SQLite – used for the direct import, export and update of data in SQLite3 databases. The Adapter also supports the creation of a new SQLite database
- PostgreSQL – used for the direct import, export and update of data in PostgreSQL databases. The Adapter can handle PostgreSQL database server versions 8.x and 9.x
- ODBC Datenquellen – with this Adapter any desired ODBC data source can be integrated into FlowHeater. The only prerequisite is that an ODBC driver for the data source has been installed
- OleDB Datenquellen – this permits any OleDB data source to be integrated into FlowHeater. The only precondition is the installation of an OleDB driver for the data source. Supports dBASE (dbf) data files
- .NET DataTable – intended for the .NET developers among us. It effectively enables you to integrate your own Adapter (lite) into FlowHeater
- Generating test data – used for generating test data. It enables you to create any number of test records with any static or dynamic content desired

To run FlowHeater Designer with optimum reliability and performance, your system should match the following requirements:
System Requirements for Windows OS:
- Windows Vista, Windows 7/8*/10 or Windows 2008/2012/2016 Server
- .NET Framework 4.5, you can get the Framework from here. Note: Only required for Vista, Windows 7 and Server 2008. The framework is already included in later versions (Windows 8,10 and Server 2012/2016) and so it is not necessary to install this software on those operating systems.
- Any processor (x86 32 Bit or x64 64 Bit) capable of running the operating system
- Minimum 2 GB main memory. More memory means more performance!
- 20 MB hard disk space
