In a few simple steps you can take your favorite digital photographs and transform them into impressive drawings and sketches in a range of styles. While easy-to-use, the app does not give you a stream of cookie-cutter output; there is great scope for tweaking and customization, so you have full control over the look of your artistic projects.
At its most basic, you can load an image into SoftOrbits Sketch Drawer Pro, choose between three styles of sketch (Realistic, Detailed and Classic) and save the result as a new file. But there is so much more you can do! For each sketch style, there are various presents you can use to customize the look – such as choosing between materials such as pastels and felt tips.
But it does not end there. You can also further tweak the look of your sketches by tinkering with settings such as smudging and stroke length, changing the type and strength of hatching that is used, and adding colour. There are thousands upon thousands of possibilities, even if you work with the same image repeatedly.
You are not limited to applying the effect to an entire image. You have the possibility of cropping in on an area of interest, or just applying the sketch transformation to a small area. There are simple image correction tools which you can use on either your original images, or after you have transformed them into sketches to adjust color, saturation, brightness and so on.
If you intend to use or share your creations online, you can add watermarks to help protect them from being copies by other people. There is also a handy batch processing option which can be used to quickly convert a large number of digital photos into stunning sketches without the need to work on each one individually.

- Contour – use these options to configure sketch contour.
- Edge Strength – This is the main parameter used to control edges, by adjusting the intensity of lines and details. At lower levels, there are fewer edges, and the level of detail decreases, while at higher values more edges are drawn and more detail is present.
- Smudging – The parameter creates the effect of smearing hatching in mid-tone areas without affecting the contour lines of the drawing.
- Increase Smudging (second image) to remove small details and make sketches smoother.
- Intensity – This parameter defines the intensity of strokes as if drawn with different pressure.
- Stroke Length – Change stroke length and the resulting sketch will be made up of strokes of that length.
- If you reduce the length, the number of strokes, and the detail of the image increase. Visually the drawing becomes darker. If you increase the value of the length, the number of strokes is reduced (strokes shorter than the set minimum do not get drawn). Visually the image becomes lighter and neater.
- Stroke thickness – This parameter defines the thickness of the outlines. At higher values of this parameter, the edges will be drawn by thicker lines.
- Hatching – use these options to configure sketch hatching.
- Edge Strength – This is the main parameter used to control edges, by adjusting the intensity of lines and details. At lower levels, there are fewer edges and the level of detail decreases, while at higher values more edges are drawn and more detail is present.
- Midtones Intensity – This parameter defines the intensity of the image background. As you move the slider to the left, the background becoming white. As you move the slider to the right program will fill white areas.
- Curvature – Use this option to make strokes more or less curved.
- Dispersion – Use this option to change stroke coherence.
- Directions – You may draw strokes in 1 or 2 directions.
- Stroke Type – You may choose linear or curved strokes.
- Intensity – This parameter defines the intensity of strokes as if drawn with different pressure.
- Colorize – allows making color sketches.
- Contour – use these options to configure sketch contour.
